Quick-Peel Double-Sided Forming Tape

quick-peel double-sided tape

Sylvan’s QUICK-PEEL Double-Sided Forming Tape is quick-to-install and is primarily used to achieve strong bonds for feature strips in concrete
forms. Quick-Peel enables installation Reveals and V-Grooves in less time and with less mess & clean-up than with spray glues or hot glues. The
Double-Sided Tape is used with all common sizes of Plasti-Flex Reveals and V-Grooves, while also maintain-ing a self-sealing edge to greatly reduce
patching, sacking, grinding and clean-up time.

Feature:

  • Available in various widths (from 1/2″ to 2″ wide).
  • Order by the roll or by the box.
  • The rigid surface film of tape enables quick-peeling with fingers.
  • The thickness is designed to securely maintain sealed edges between Plasti-Flex Reveals and the steel forms.
  • Quick-Peel enables casting crews to achieve multiple reuses of Plasti-Flex Reveals for big material savings.
  • Precasters have also used Quick-Peel Double-Sided Tape with Poly-Comp Gold Reveals.
  • Quick-Peel Double-Sided Tape in conjunction with Plasti-Flex self-sealing reveal is an architectural system designed to provide high-end concrete finishes.
  • Can also be used to adhere form-liner.

For best bonding results, the intended form should be free of grit, grime, grease and/or oils. Precasters explain that they use a spray bottle with a mixture of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) & water, or applicator pads & heptane, then wipe dry.

For extremely greasy or oily surfaces, several precasters have suggested to Sylvan that casting crews should use degreasers, or solvent based cleaners, such as 3M Prep Solvent 70, 3M Citrus Base Cleaner, mineral spirits, naphtha, xylene, or toluene to cut through the oils, and then wipe down with gloves and rags. They then follow-up with the IPA/Water mixture until the oil is gone.

For quick installation of the Double-Sided Tape onto the back of Reveals, first cut a strip of tape to the length of the intended Reveal, then line the tape down the middle of the underside of the Reveal, and then press the tape smoothly across the entire length of the Reveal. Do not allow the tape to bunch up, which could disrupt the seal along an edge.

After the tape is attached to the Reveal, start peeling the film overlay with fingertips from one end to the other. Once the proper installation location has been measured and/ or lined up, the Reveal can be installed by placing the Reveal with the tape side down, and then pressing down the entire length of the Reveal. You should see that the tape is holding Plasti-Flex Reveal down tightly to the form, with the sharp & soft edges providing a tight gasket onto the form.

One test to check if the Plasti-Flex Reveal has been properly installed to achieve an optimum seal, is to see if the edge of a piece of paper curls up when sliding against the edge of the Reveal. If the paper easily slides under the edges of the Reveal, then the seal is likely not complete. Check the form for bunched tape or any grit or debris. If found, remove and reinstall the tape until proper installation is achieved.
